Two and a Real Man. It seems that Angus T. Jones is stepping out the box he grew up in. You may know his character as Jake Harper on Two and a Half Men. If you’re like me, you would have to look up what role he played because it is not a show you would watch. It seems he’s out there calling the show “filth” and even encouraging people to no longer watch it. Yep. Janice just came up, read over my shoulder and quipped, “I don’t know anything about the show. I never watch it.”
Be that as it may, there is a reason why it comes on TV seven days a week. There are a lot of people watching it. I have watched snatches of it and the common denominator was sex. And this is where Angus T. Jones comes in.
“If you watch, ‘Two and a Half Men,’ please stop watching ‘Two and a Half Men.’ I’m on ‘Two and a Half Men,’ and I don’t want to be on it.” Jones said that in a video-taped interview for the Forerunner Chronicles. They are connected with a Seventh Day Adventist Church in Los Angeles where Jones attends. If you google it, you can find the video on line.
Some are passing this off as, “This half man is biting the hand that feeds him.” I don’t see it that way. I see it as a young man who is getting the bigger picture. The hand that feeds him is not some monetary cash cow. The Hand that feeds him is the Creator of the universe. Angus T. Jones gets that. Some people cannot fathom that.
“Then Jesus said to them, ‘Most assuredly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread from heaven, but My Father gives you the true bread from heaven. For the bread of God is He who comes down from heaven and gives life to the world.’ They said to Him, ‘Lord, give us this bread always.’”(John 6:32-34) And Jesus said to them, ‘I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst. But I said to you that you have seen Me and yet do not believe.”(John 6:32-36)
There are some people that can fathom the bigger picture. The bigger picture isn’t a mosaic of dead presidents printed on a tapestry of Federal Reserve Notes. It’s not gold or silver! Jesus is the Essence of Life. “I am the bread of life.”
“All that the Father gives Me will come to Me, and the one who comes to Me I will by no means cast out. For I have come down from heaven, not to do My own will, but the will of Him who sent Me. This is the will of the Father who sent Me, that of all He has given Me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up at the last day. And this is the will of Him who sent Me, that everyone who sees the Son and believes in Him may have everlasting life; and I will raise him up at the last day.”(John 37-40)
You’ve just read the Word of God, the bread of life. “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, . . .” (John 1:1, 14a) Christmas! Are you getting the Picture?
