Hazel Godfrey Eubanks

Hazel Godfrey Eubanks, 89 of Albany, GA died Monday, December 3, 2012 at Morningside Assisted Living. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2:00 PM at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. Dr. Matthew Nance and Rev. Charlie Brown will officiate. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

A native of Elmodel, GA, Mrs. Eubanks graduated from Elmodel High School in 1940 and had resided in Albany for the past sixty two years. She was a homemaker and after raising her children she was employed with the Dougherty County Extension Office for twenty years. She was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church, the Open Door Sunday School Class and also taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School for many years. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Morningside and Albany Community Hospice.

She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty nine years, Merrill W. Eubanks. Survivors include a son, and his wife, Joel and Marcia Eubanks of Lee County, GA, a daughter and her husband, Pam and Garvin Akridge of Albany, GA, six grandchildren, Amanda (Gene) Barfield and Holly (Marvin) Sheffield all of Lee County, GA, Ryan J. Eubanks of Albany, GA, Emily (Bob) Gibbs of Boca Raton, FL, Stan (Jamie) Akridge of Calhoun, GA and Anna (Shaun) Lokey of Dothan, AL, fifteen great-grandchildren, a sister, Paulene Cook of Marietta, GA and a sister-in-law, Nadine Godfrey of St. Mary’s, GA.

The family will receive friends Wednesday at Byne Memorial Baptist Church one hour prior to the funeral service.

The families will be at the residences of Joel and Marcia Eubanks, 115 Apalachee Drive, Leesburg, GA 31763 and Pam and Garvin Akridge, 2202 Arrowwood Drive, Albany, GA 31721.
