Albany Area Arts Council is pleased to host the 9th Annual Southwest Georgia College Art Invitational, formally called the Emerging Artists Exhibition. The show was originally created by ASU and Darton art faculty to give college students an opportunity to show work regionally and enable them to gain practical experience exhibiting art. The Opening Reception is tonight, Thursday from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m..
This upcoming exhibit will showcase the work of college level artists from Albany State University, Darton College, and Valdosta State University. These college level artists have been invited to participate by university faculty who selected their art as standouts among their peers. On display will be their work in the categories of painting, drawing, ceramics, sculpture, graphics and photography. In addition to exhibiting their art locally, these artists have the opportunity to earn an award as this is a juried exhibition. This year’s judge is Linda Hall, an artist and art educator in Tallahassee, FL who will select winners in each of the categories. The winners will be announced at the opening reception and individual artists will be recognized. The opening reception sponsored by Phoebe Community Visions will be November 9th from 6-8pm at the Carnegie Library. The exhibition runs November 1 through 30, 2012.
