After disappointing back-to-back losses to Kentucky State University in SIAC championship games, the Albany State University Lady Rams look to claim the SIAC championship title during the SIAC Volleyball Championship Tournament, which starts today at ASU’s HPER Gymnasium. The double-elimination tournament ends Friday with the championship game set for 3 p.m.

One of 12 teams that will compete for the championship title, the Lady Rams enter the tournament as the No. 1 team in the East Division with 19-11 overall and perfect 15-0 conference records. Albany State will play Wednesday at 2 p.m. against winner of the opening round match between the No. 3 East Division Clark Atlanta University Lady Panthers versus the No. 6 West Division Lane College Lady Dragons. No. 4 West LeMoyne-Owen College and No. 5 East Paine College will meet at 10 a.m. in the other opening-round game.

If the Lady Rams win the 2012 SIAC title, they will compete in the NCAA Division II volleyball regional tournament later this month. Sites of regional tournaments will be announced later.
