Howell I. Davis

Howell I. Davis, Jr., 60, passed away Monday, November 19, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Wednesday (today) at 4:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern. Interment will follow at Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Howell was born and raised in Albany and attended Dougherty County Schools in the 1950’s and 1960’s. He was a 41 year truck driver and owner-operator. Thirty six of those years in hauling petroleum throughout the tri-state area and owner-operator of H. Davis Trucking Company. His later years were hauling construction products and heavy equipment for Jim Boyd Inc with his C.B. handle as “Misfit”. An average stock car driver, he raced speedways in Albany, Cordele, Valdosta, Dublin and East Alabama. Under the alias “JR Davis”, mostly in his own car #Z-28 but drover others as well. He was preceded in death by his parents, Howell Sr. and Josie Tinsley Davis.

Survivors include a son, Howell I. Davis III (Kim) of Leesburg, two daughters, Sherry Pickle (Joey) of Leesburg and Wanda Gail Davis of Jacksonville, FL, nine grandchildren, Howell I. Davis IV, Laken, Caitlyn and Rainy Dais of Leesburg, Cassidy and Joey Pickle of Leesburg and Marissa, Brandon and Leighton Davis of Jacksonville, FL, a brother, Steve R. Davis (Mary) of Albany, two sisters, Betty Williams of Albany and Barbara Davis of Oakfield, GA, a Fiancee’, Tonia Musgrove Nolan and stepchildren, Kenny Young, Tonilee Norris (Pierce) and Christy Arnold (Michael), several nieces and nephews and his special four legged friend, Cornbread.

The family will receive friends one hour before the service at 3:00PM at Kimbrell-Stern

Memorials may be made to Albany Community Hospice, 2332 Lake Park Dr., Albany, GA 31707.
