Undefeated Cavaliers shutout GPC Jaguars

Cavalier sophomore Jowayne Laidley draws the Jaguars’ goalkeeper off his line and fires Darton’s third goal into the back of the net in a 4-0 victory Satuday.

Darton State College’s men soccer team beat GCAA rival Georgia Perimeter College, Saturday, in a 4-0 shutout at home.

The Cavalier’s 12th straight win followed another landslide, GCAA victory – 5-0 over South Georgia College on Monday – leaving no doubt that Darton is at the top of conference as the Region 17 tournament draws nearer. But it doesn’t stop there as the Cavs have been the No. 1 ranked team in the NJCAA for five straight weeks.
And they keep getting better.
“The second half (today) was the best soccer we’ve played all year,” Darton head soccer coach Bart Sasnett said. “We were good all over, attacking from both sides and the middle of the field. We were very rhythmical out there.”

Darton sophomore Jowayne Laidley led the scoring effort, scoring two goals including a breakaway goal in the second half that put Darton up 3-0 and seemed to deflate any hopes the Jaguars had of coming back.
Jorge Torinos and Andrew Palumbo also scored. Alejandro Garcia, Troy Tucker and Palumbo had an assist each.
The Cavaliers are now 12-0 overall and 7-0 in the GCAA. Their last regular season home game will be held at 7 p.m., Monday, against Georgia Military College.
