I’m #NVR, your friendly neighborhood Kattalistt. And I have some exciting things to tell you about the coming two weeks.
But first, I want to editorialize for a moment about the battle between Can and Will. Many of the people in this city do not see the things I see; they may not be party to the plans my group has or is privy to. But there is an epic battle going on between those who Can… and those who Will. And I can tell you first hand those that Will, Have. The fruits of the first half of this month are prime examples. Flint Fest 2 and The Georgia Throwdown brought a lot of attention to our humble and possibly rundown little hometown. Both are excellent cases of the people who Can falling by the wayside while the people who Will did something amazing. And as I understand it, both events are already planning to do it bigger next year.
So I’ll offer up a challenge. If you’re tired of the same scene, if you’re bored with what you see, then stand up and join those of us that Will. Reach out to one of the dozens of groups that are working to improve this city and get involved. I promise we have a place for you and we will be glad to help you get involved.
If you are one of those who Can, stand up, and join those of us who Will.
In other news! I am pleased to announce that The Kattalistt will be kicking off Albany’s own Zombie Apocalypse with a bit of survival training. The KattaCache 2012 GeoCache Scavenger hunt will be taking place this weekend. We have strategically planted forty GeoCaches across Dougherty and Lee Counties and are challenging you to seek them out for a chance at winning a cash prize. Forty caches over five days; Registration will be held Friday, October 19th and Saturday, October 20th in the lobby of the Flint RiverQuarium and it will cost $10 to enter. The winner, who either finds the most caches over the five day period or finds all of the caches first, will receive a cash prize based on a percentage of the entry stake. The winner will be announced the following week at the River Zombie 5K Awards Ceremony.
After that we have a whole weekend of zombie filled fun centred on downtown Albany. Frights@D’town, A Zombie 5K Breakfast at Our Daily Bread, The River Zombie 5K with musical guests The G& S Experience, Realization, Lo Cast and Dog Head, and The Zombie After(Life) Party at The Barcode with musical guests Max Kincaide, Torq, P.F.E., Wampus Creek, and guest DJ, Jrodigy. So Come and check it out because we’re planning on having a blast!
