Albany Symphony announces 2 performances only of Cirque de la Symphonie on Saturday, October 27 at the Albany Municipal Auditorium. There will be a matinee performance at 2:30 PM and an evening performance at 7:30 PM.

Cirque de la Symphonie kicks off the ASO’s 49th consecutive season. It is a unique production formed to bring the magic of the cirque to the music hall. It is an exciting adaptation of the artistic cirque performances seen in theaters and arenas around the world.

Artists include the most amazing veterans of the exceptional cirque programs throughout the world – aerial flyers, acrobats, contortionists, dancers, jugglers, balancers, and strongmen.

Each artist’s performance is professionally choreographed to classical masterpieces, which will be performed live by the Albany Symphony Orchestra.

The special Halloween-themed program includes the Overture from Phantom of the Opera, Mussorgsky’s “A Night on Bald Mountain,” Grieg’s “In the Hall of the Mountain King,” Khachaturian’s “Sabre Dance,” Dukas’ “Sorcerer’s Apprentice,” and more. Audience members are encouraged to come in Halloween costume if they wish.

Maestro Claire Fox Hillard invited Cirque de la Symphonie to perform in Albany after seeing them perform in Dallas, TX. He was amazed by their artistry in collaboration with live symphonic music, “It is the collaboration of two highly skilled art forms resulting in a marvelous visual and aural experience,” Hillard said.

Cirque has elicited many rave reviews including the following in the San Francisco Examiner. “San Francisco Symphony presented the dazzling and elegant if not death defying Cirque de la Symphonie to a full house of delighted and mesmerized adults and children…a crowd pleasing joy to behold…performing with beauty and delicacy, incredible precision and timing.”

Join Conductor Hillard from the stage of the auditorium for informative comments and insights into select performances at 6:30 p.m.

Following the concert, step next door to the historic Carnegie Library to mingle and enjoy refreshments with other Conductor’s Circle guests. Greet the guest artists and Maestro Hillard. Tickets are $15 per person or $50 for a season pass.

The ASO is a fully professional per service orchestra serving the Southwest Georgia region with classical, pops, educational and special concerts. The orchestra celebrates its 50th season in 2014. Recognized for its innovative audience, developmental efforts and diverse programming, the orchestra has received the League of American Orchestras and American Society of Composers Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) awards on multiple occasions.
