Members of the Southside Middle School Future Farmers of America (FFA) chapter attended the 2012 FFA Day at the Georgia National Fair on October 9 in Perry. FFA Day is designed for students in grades 6-9 to learn more about FFA and agricultural education. Several Southside FFA students participated in various competitive events. Competition results were as follows:
Silk Floral Design Division

Agriscience Minibooth Division
- Ciara Childs, 1st place (The effect of humic acid on the growth of mustard greens)
- Deavion Hawkins and Elisia Walters, 1st place (Determining the effect of electromagnetic radiation on the germination of radish seeds)
Live Plant Division
- Jamarien Washington, 1st place
