Marine Reserve Detachment kicks off 2012 Toys for Tots Campaign at MCLB Albany

MARINE CORPS LOGISTICS BASE ALBANY, Ga. — Marine Reservists with Detachment 2, Supply Company, 4th Supply Battalion, 4th Marine Logistics Group, is kicking off their efforts for the 2012 Toys for Tots Campaign at MCLB Albany, Monday, Oct. 15 at MCLB Albany.

Gunnery Sgt. Kenneth Starkey, supply chief, Det. 2, Supply Co., will provide remarks during the press conference, which will include information on how individuals can sign up or participate in the event. Last year alone, the unit collected more than 14,000 toys for 4,000 children in the local area and raised more than $9,000 in donations.

For more than eight years, Marine Reservists here in Albany, Ga., have partnered up with the Albany Salvation Army for the Toys for Tots Campaign. The Salvation Army handles the family registration process.

            Their website, http://albany-ga.toysfortots.org., also includes information on how businesses can become official drop-off sites for the program as well as a calendar of fundraising events.
