(DOUGLAS) – Darton’s first ever loss to conference-rival South Georgia College didn’t settle too well with the Lady Cavaliers, who redeemed themselves Tuesday, shutting out the Lady Tigers 2-0 in Douglas.
Lady Cavs shut out South Georgia College
“We played a little more inspired soccer,” Darton head women’s soccer coach Ken Veilands said.
After a scoreless first half, sophomore Deanna Reali took matters into her own hands and changed the game.
“She took charge, beat some people and fired a shot,” Veilands said. “Her goal seemed to wake us up and become more aggressive.”
Freshman Chevelle Lopez followed suit with a second Cavalier goal. And freshman goalkeeper Tori Danchak stopped a South Georgia breakaway to hold the Tigers scoreless for her fifth shutout.
The Lady Cavs put 15 shots onto the Lady Tigers’ goal. South Georgia had three shots on goal.
The Lady Cavs, now 6-5 overall and 6-3 in conference play, will host ABAC at 6 p.m., Friday.
