Melanie Hope Lanier, 48, of Albany, died Tuesday, September 4, 2012.
Her funeral service will be Friday 11 AM at Byne Memorial Baptist Church. The Rev. Dr. Mathew Nance will officiate. The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Thursday from 5-7 PM. Melanie will be taken to Ethel, Mississippi for a graveside service at Tabernacle Methodist Church Cemetery on Saturday at 11 AM.
Melanie was born in Kosciusko, MS, and moved to Albany in 1987. She graduated from Winston Academy in Louisville, MS in 1982. She attended the Mississippi University for Women and graduated from the Mississippi Medical College in 1987 with a degree in Physical Therapy. She worked as a physical therapist in Albany for several years. Melanie was a member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church, and in prior years worked with the Children and Youth Ministries. She also sang in the choir. Melanie was known by friends, neighbors, and family for her giving spirit. She was preceded in death by her twin sister, Melissa Howell, and by her brother, David Reynolds.
Melanie is survived by her husband, Tod Lanier, Albany; son: Nathan Lanier, Albany; parents: Harlan and Linda Reynolds, Ethel, MS; brother: Ladd Reynolds, Starkville, MS; sister: Erin Rees and her husband Adam, Clinton, MS; mother-in-law and father-in-law: Donald and Sylvia Lanier, Albany; 13 nieces and nephews; 3 grand-nieces and nephews.
