Let’s Talk About October

By   /   September 26, 2012  /   Comments Off

Here’s your friendly hello from The Kattalistt Communication. Once again, I’m #NVR, and I’m here to tell you about October. For those of you who don’t know, October is going to be jam up for this city. We’ve got festivals, events, home comings, and an all-out zombie week. So what do you say? Are you ready to have some fun?

First on the docket is our second annual FlintFest in Riverfront Park. Kicking off at noon and running into the evening of October 6th. The event promises fun for the whole family with music, arts, and vendors on site. I’d be lying if I didn’t say that The Kattalistt didn’t have some activities and attractions planned for an afternoon in Riverfront Park. Needless to say the Kattalistt is looking forward to this fall on the Flint.

Next up in the Albany music and arts week is The Georgia Throwdown. This three day music festival promises to be an awesome event for Albany for years to come. The big news this week is the securing of headliners Big & Rich, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and Uncle Kracker. And with over 60 bands this promises to be an occasion worth remembering. Look for more information about the full lineup at www.georgiathrowdown.com.

Looking to the end of October, we at the Kattalistt get really excited. In partnering with the Flint Riverquarium for their River Zombie 5K Fun Run we’ve taken up the zombie theme for Halloween in a big way. Look for details soon about our KattaCache 2012 Zombie Survival Training: a Geocache Scavenger Hunt. It will be a 4 day hunt for GPS flagged caches hidden in Dougherty and Lee Counties. Participants will be rewarded with the knowledge that they will be knowledgeable of locating caches of goods and information in the event of a zombie apocalypse and one lucky winner will receive a cash prize.

The last full week in October will see an outbreak of Halloween themed events starting with our KattaCache 2012Zombie Survival Training: a Geocache Scavenger Hunt at the beginning of the week. Frights @ D’town has many great things planned, including their yearly haunted house on Washington St and a spin on the popular Nights @ D’town event the last Friday of the month. Along with all the holiday events downtown the Flint Riverquarium will be hosting their River Zombie 5K Fun Run on October 27th. And The Kattalistt will be hosting the Zombie Afterlife Party at The Barcode downtown that night. We’re bringing in bands and Zombies get in free!

Truth be told… That’s not even scratching the surface. October is a huge event for Albany this year and it will be for years to come. We urge you to get involved. If you need information about what’s going on you can find us on Facebook at www.facebook.com/theKattalsittComm, Twitter @theKattalistt, or on our forum site at www.ChangeIntoAnIdea.org.
