(ALBANY) – For the fourth consecutive week, Darton State College remained the No. 1 team in the National Junior College Athletics Association men’s D-1 soccer poll, the NJCAA announced today.
The Cavaliers, now flawlessly 8-0, have been the top team since the 2012 polls began in August. They’ve beaten two of the 20 top teams in the latest polls – No. 8 Tyler Community College and No. 12 South Georgia College.
“They don’t really talk about it,” Darton head men’s soccer coach Bart Sasnett said of his team. “Our returning sophomores and the new freshmen – when they came here to play, they expected to be number one.
“They just concentrate on the next match.”
That next match will be at 6 p.m., at home today against Thomas University Reserve, whom the Cavaliers beat 6-1 in their last matchup on Sept. 11, in Thomasville.
Then the Cavs will face Jefferson College in Atlanta on Friday, before heading to South Georgia College, Tuesday, for a heavy GCAA rivalry in Douglas. When last these two clashed, Darton won 3-2 at home.
