A university’s website is one of the most important information and marketing tools prospective students have at their fingertips to make decisions about which college to attend.
First impressions are lasting. That’s why the Office of University Communications and Information Technology at Albany State began a project earlier this summer to update the look of the institution’s homepage and departmental pages.
This week marks the launch of the new site with visual appeal and improved navigation. ASU’s bold blue and gold colors serve as a backdrop for compelling photographs and graphic icons.
“I did the heavy lifting from a technical standpoint by uploading content, creating cascading style sheets and completing its configuration” said Robert Thomas, ASU web application developer. “I’ll fine tune the site throughout the week,” he continued.
The new homepage features a marquee that dissolves to a series of current events, a social media section, a calendar of events and important deadlines and links to the admissions, financial aid and registrar’s offices. “I Teach for You” will spotlight a new ASU faculty member each month.
Webpage designer and ASU Director of Marketing Demetrius Love, researched the factors that are important to website visitors, and then designed the site around a “user friendly” concept. “The website is designed to enhance communication through its quick loading pages, easy accessibility, simple and intuitive navigation and content.
