Special to the Journal
Albany Area Arts Council is pleased to announce the kickoff of arts.about.ALBANY . The Albany Area Arts Council and its member agencies will gather Thursday morning, October 4th at the Carnegie Library to celebrate a fantastic month of colors, textures and sounds. Please come mingle with the event organizers and review promotional materials for the arts and culture events of this highlighted month. This kickoff coincides with the 20th anniversary of the Albany Area Arts Council‘s ribbon cutting at the Carnegie Library so cake will be served.
This event is the result of a collaborative effort of the Albany Area Arts Council and its member organizations; Albany Chorale, Albany Civil Rights Museum, Albany Museum of Art, Albany Symphony Orchestra, Theatre Albany, Thronateeska Heritage Center. Currently, the Arts Council creates a monthly calendar showcasing our community’s arts and cultural events. We choose to highlight October in a grand fashion as it is chock full of quality events that offer something for everyone. Additionally several organizations, The Arts Council, Albany Symphony Orchestra and Theatre Albany, recently announced their upcoming season’s calendars. We broadened the scope of the events beyond our member agencies to include the festivals and other arts and culture events that will take place.
We all believe that the arts and culture is a vibrant asset to this community and hope everyone will partake in this season’s art and culture cornucopia!
The Albany Area Arts Council is located in the historic Carnegie Library, 215 North Jackson St., Albany, Georgia. The gallery is open Monday through Friday 10am to 4pm. Our mission is to encourage, sponsor and support the arts and culture in our community. The Albany Area Arts Council is devoted to promoting the arts in the greater Albany area.
