Albany, Ga. - An Albany police officer had the kind of encounter one would only think of as happening in the movies. The officer in question took a shot at Batman.
While escorting an employee from the East Albany Captain D’s about 10:00 last night while trying to make a deposit at SB&T Bank, an officer heard a strange sound. He instructed the employee to return to her vehicle, and proceeded to investigate. A figure, dressed as the comic book superhero, came up from around an air conditioner unit and pointed a gun at the officer. The officer fired one shot at the suspect, but he reportedly got away.
A search was conducted at the nearby Hidden Oaks apartment complex with the help of the Dougherty County Police Department and the Dougherty County Sheriff’s Office. K-9 units were also reportedly used.
This isn’t the first time a criminal has surfaced in this area dressed in a batman costume. On September 4, a man entered an East Albany Pizza Hut dressed in a similar costume and brandished a handgun before demanding all the cash in the register.
