(ALBANY) – The Darton College Lady Cavaliers fell 2-0 in a nail-biter to No. 3-ranked Brevard Community College, Saturday, at home.

The Lady Cavs have been playing well and they outshot Brevard 7-5, but just couldn’t get the ball into the net.

“Their goalkeeper had a huge save in the second half,” Darton College head women’s soccer coach Ken Veilands said. “It got frustrating. We just couldn’t get it into the back of the net.”

Brevard led 1-0 at halftime after a questionable breakaway that the Darton defense believed to be a missed off-sides call. Brevard scored again in the second half on another breakaway that resulted from a through ball from the Brevard midfield.

“It was a good game,” Veilands said. “We’re there, we just need to get that kick up front.”

The Lady Cavs are now 3-4 and are scheduled to play Middle Georgia College at 6 p.m. Thursday.
