Special to the Journal
Auburn, Ala. – Wednesday evening, the Auburn Tigers held a two-hour practice at the Auburn Athletics Complex Practice Fields.
“We did a lot of best-on-best out there today, trying to build up the physical mentality,” said Auburn head coach Gene Chizik. “We challenged them and I think they responded better than they did yesterday. It was very good to see. I think our team bought into it well. Obviously we have a lot of work to do before we play, but tonight was a step in the right direction.
“We’re getting very close (on the quarterbacks). We’ll continue to evaluate the overall body of work – I’m not putting a timeline on that. We’re looking for leadership – all the intangible things that come from that position to win in this league – decision making, executing what we call, mechanics – a lot of factors involved. We’re looking for the guy who gives us the best chance to win.”
Auburn will practice again Thursday afternoon.
