Hear Voice 2012 is hosting a voter registration drive on August 30 from 11 am to 7 pm at the Athlete’s Foot.

“We are having a voter registration drive to register first time registrants, people who are registered and need to change their address, people who need absentee ballot applications,” said Haryl Dabney, the organizer of the event.

Those interested must bring a copy of their ID.  “It doesn’t matter if it’s expired or not,” said Dabney.

“This is the only time your voice can be heard, so come out and register to vote,” said Dabney.  Dabney went on to say that out of 206 million people eligible to vote, only 146 million are registered. “You have a great liberty lets use it.”

The group will hold another voter registration drive on Sept.5 at the ASU Student Amphitheater. In addition, they will do door to door knocking as part of the effort on Sept.8.

“We are still in need of volunteers, so if you or you organization would like to get involved let us know.” Dabney said.

Interested parties should contact Haryl Dabney by calling 229-418-1978 or emailing him at haryl.dabney@gmail.com.  The group also has a page on Facebook:http://www.facebook.com/groups/hearmyvoice2012/
