Vintage Albany

General Curtis LeMay, known to be a racing fan as well as a participant, would close the runways at Turner Air Force base to airplane traffic in the 1950’s and let race car drivers use the huge runways for racing. It brought large crowds out to the base and provided needed money to be used for other various activities on the base. General LeMay himself owned a Cadillac Allard.



Betty Rehberg was the historian for the Albany Journal and maintains a group on Facebook called Vintage Albany Georgia.
