United Way of Southwest Georgia Distributes Funds for Health & Wellness Community Programs/Projects

(ALBANY, GA)  The United Way of Southwest Georgia are distributing funds for specific community
programs/projects in our local community. The funds were received from a grant funded by Phoebe Putney Memorial
Hospital and Phoebe Community Visions to support the health and wellness impact area of the United Way’s community impact model. The agency has chosen to support the following programs and projects: Kid’s Café, Special Olympics andRSVP Health & Wellness Fairs.

Each agency previously requested a need for support of the programs and the agency and funder agreed that
these were worthy projects to support for consumers in our local area. All agencies will report back to the United Way
quantitative and qualitative data regarding the usage of the funds and the impact on their respective agency and
We will distribute the funds during a press conference to be held on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 at 4:00pm at
the local office (112 Westover Blvd.) United Way of Southwest Georgia’s mission is to improve lives by mobilizing the caring power of communities in Southwest Georgia.   We work daily to advance the common good, strengthening the building blocks that everyone inour community needs for a quality life: Education, Income, Basic Needs and Health.  By focusing our energy and efforts on these building blocks and by supporting partner agencies that provide programs and services with measurable impact under these areas – we know that if we get these four areas in good shape, we will have strong communities and stable,independent families.
