Two Practices Tuesday for Tigers

AUBURN — Tuesday was the first double-practice day of the 2012 preseason for the Auburn Tigers, who held a two-hour session Tuesday morning in pads indoors because of the continuing showers. The Tigers returned to the practice field in shorts in the late afternoon for a 90-minute workout outdoors.

“I look out there and I see enthusiasm, I see a lot of education about the game, and I see attention to detail,” Auburn assistant head coach Trooper Taylor said. “There are guys more competitive about jobs, because there are more jobs open. There are a lot of positions on this football team wide open, which is not the case at every school.

“Along with that competition, I think the leadership has been good. Guys are working to get their assignments right. We have guys getting to where they’re supposed to be with a sense of urgency. They are paying attention to detail. That is really big for us moving forward.”

Wednesday, Auburn will have its first scrimmage action of preseason camp.

Sunday is Auburn’s Fan Day, presented by Golden Flake, from 2-4 p.m. at Auburn Arena. Admission is free. The Tigers open the season Saturday, September 1, facing Clemson in the Chick-fil-A Kickoff Game at Atlanta’s Georgia Dome.
