TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The football team returned to practice Tuesday afternoon at the Hank Crisp Indoor Facility for a two-hour session in which the Crimson Tide strapped on full pads for the first time in fall camp.

“I am really pleased with the work and progress that our team has made to this point,” said Alabama head coach Nick Saban. “I think the players are working hard and trying to pay attention to detail. There has been a tremendous amount of teaching going on and a tremendous amount of learning. I also see a lot of guys making a lot of improvement.”

Tuesday’s session marked the fifth practice of fall camp as the Tide continues to work towards its season opener on Sept. 1 at Cowboys Stadium against Michigan.

The intensity of fall camp will increase tomorrow as Alabama will hold its first two-a-day practice, with the first session beginning at 9:30 a.m. The Tide will then take the field again at 7:30 p.m. for the day’s final workout.

“I think the biggest thing we are trying to do right now is work all our players in the fundamentals they need to be good players,” added Saban. “We are coaching every guy on the team. Everybody is getting coached, everybody is getting repetitions and everybody has an opportunity.”

Alabama will hold an afternoon practice on Thursday before conducting the week’s final two-a-day practice on Friday. The Tide will then have the fall’s first scrimmage on Saturday at Bryant-Denny Stadium. All practices are closed to the public.
