TUSCALOOSA, Ala. – The football team held a two-hour practice on Tuesday at the Thomas-Drew Practice Fields in full pads as it continued preparations for its season opener. The Crimson Tide kicks off its 2012 campaign on Saturday when it takes on Michigan at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

“This is a great opportunity for us,” said senior offensive lineman Barrett Jones. “What Michigan does, they do extremely well. They are a very solid team. They return a lot of guys and a lot of experience, and we are expecting a big challenge.”

The Wolverines hold an overall record of 23-6-1 against Southeastern Conference opponents, including the slight 2-1 edge over Alabama, while the Tide is 19-11 versus the current Big Ten field. Arlington will mark the 19th different city that Alabama has played a season opener in with the most popular venue being its home turf in Tuscaloosa.

Kickoff is slated for 7 p.m. CT and will be televised nationally by ABC with Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit calling the action and Heather Cox reporting from the sidelines.
