THEATRE ALBANY TO CONDUCT AUDITIONS FOR “SPIDER ISLAND”

Artistic Director Mark Costello has announced that Theatre Albany will conduct auditions for “Spider Island” by Joseph Spalding, Sunday and Monday, August 26 and 27 at 7:00 p.m. at the theatre located at 514 Pine Avenue.

The setting for this classic thriller is an abandoned lighthouse off the New England coast live Abbie and Salem Mayo, two spinsters. Abbie is slightly pixilated and believes her dead brother is living in the lighthouse tower. Salem encourages her delusions. To this queer household comes Star Mayo and her friend, Pat Casey. They do not know of the two aunts, and the girls are soon plunged into a series of hair raising events.

Characters include: Abbie and SalemMayo, two elderly sisters; Dullie Peabody, their hired girl; Star Mayo, their niece, Patsy, her girl friend, and Meg Crosby, an old crone. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script.

Rehearsals are set to begin in September with performances scheduled for October 25 thru November 4. For further information, call the theatre at (229) 439-7193.
