In a written statement, released August 15th, Georgia State Representative Robert Dickey gave his endorsement to fellow Republican Rick Allen:
“I am excited to endorse Rick Allen for Congress for the 2nd District of Georgia, which covers my home county of Crawford. Rick is the candidate we need in Congress to help balance our federal budget and make a positive impact for Georgia in Washington.”
- State Representative Robert L. Dickey, III
Georgia House District 136
Dickey, a recent recipient of the American Conservative Union’s Defender of Liberty Award, represents all of Crawford County and portions of Bibb, Houston, Monroe and Peach counties. The district will be altered slightly prior to the upcoming legislative session and renamed District 140.
Rick Allen, a Muscogee County business owner, responded to Dickey’s endorsement, “I’m honored to have Representative Robert Dickey’s support. Mr. Dickey is a true conservative and a successful businessman and farmer. I welcome his endorsement.”
Allen added, “Robert and I both have faith in our fellow Georgians and know that the private sector, not government, grows our economy. Georgians want jobs , and current federal government restrictions are not an on-ramp to job growth, they’re a barricade.”
Dickey’s endorsement came on the heels of yesterday’s endorsements from Georgia legislators Ed Rynders (R-Albany) and Jay Powell (R-Camilla).
Allen won 42% of the vote in the July 31st GOP Primary and received the full endorsement of fellow Republican candidate Ken DeLoach, who placed third with 26% of the vote. Allen will be in an August 21st GOP Primary run-off which will produce the GOP nominee to oppose Democrat incumbent Sanford Bishop in November. Any registered voter who voted in the July 31st Republican General primary, or who did not vote in either primary on that day, is eligible to vote in the run-off.
