Sandra W. Drake, 72, of Albany died on August 21, 2012, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be Friday 3:00 PM at Crown Hill Cemetery. Dr. Matthew Nance and Rev. Carrie Myers officiating. The family will receive friends Friday from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.
Mrs. Drake the daughter of Russell and Ruth Wray was born in Toccoa, Georgia, on February 4, 1940. She later moved with her family to Albany where she graduated from Albany High School in 1958. She began her business career as secretary to Dr. Archie Smith, head of the Southwest Georgia Presbytery.
In later years Mrs. Drake was a real estate saleslady affiliated with Albany Realty Co. After retirement in 1998 she served as a volunteer worker in the Intensive Care section of Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital and as a volunteer worker at Chehaw Park. She enjoyed flower gardening and for many years she planted and nurtured colorful seasonal flowers and ferns in her home garden.
Mrs. Drake is a member of First United Methodist Church of Albany and a former member of Byne Memorial Baptist Church.
She is survived by her husband of 42 years, Robert M. (Bob) Drake of Albany:
her daughter and son-in-law, Robin and Charles Woske of Los Angeles, Cal.; her brother, Philip Wray and his wife, Pons, of Warner Robins; her sister-in-law, Katherine Drake, cousins, Andrea Black and Marilyn Leonard both of Perry, GA and two dear friends. Virginia Maxton and Emily Johnson, all of Pensacola, Fla.
