Darton State College Baseball to host “How the Recruting Process Works” showcase

Darton State College Baseball will breakdown the ins and outs of the collegiate recruiting process to area athletes, coaches and parents during its 2nd annual “How the Recruiting Process Works” showcase on Sept. 8.

“This showcase is like no other around because we offer everything you need to get ready for college recruiting,” Darton head baseball coach Scot Hemmings said.

Registration is $150 and can be completed online via PayPal or credit card at the Cavaliers athletic website: http://cavs.darton.edu/. Registration forms are also available upon request through the Darton athletics department. Space is limited so early registration is encouraged.

Participants will receive a highlight video from D.I.R.T baseball to send to colleges for recruitment after completing a professional-style workout that includes a 60-yard dash, throw from particular positions, batting practice and a 20-pitch bullpen.

A physical therapist will provide lectures of weight lifiting, arm care, injury prevention and injury rehabilitation.

Recruiting coordinators and coaches from the NCAA, NAIA and NJCAA will share their insight into the collegiate recruiting process, including roster limitiations, scholarships and what coaches search for in a student-athlete.

Current collegiate athletes will be on-hand to give their accounts of the daily rigors of collegiate baseball and study.
