Broadway Bound Musical Theatre Company and Lee County High School’s Performing Arts Program will hold auditions for their annual children’s show on Sunday, August 5 at 2 p.m. and Monday, August 6 at 6 p.m. at Lee County High School. Auditionees may attend either audition. This year the group has chosen ANNIE, JR., a one hour adaptation of the Broadway blockbuster Annie for young performers. The musical tells the story of the popular comic strip character Little Orphan Annie.
“Broadway is in high gear for the upcoming revival of Annie and I thought this is a great time for Lee County to see this classic,” said director Dotty Davis. “The show is packed with great music like Tomorrow and It’s a Hard Knock Life.” The Lee County production is set for September 28 and 29 with two school-day performances scheduled for October 1. Last year’s children’s show, Aristocats, was sold out for the school-day performances, and Davis predicts the same will happen this year for the October 1 performances.
Actors should come prepared to learn a song and dance at the audition. No prepared audition material is needed. It is also important to point out that while the show is co-sponsored by Broadway Bound Musical Theatre Company, membership in Broadway Bound is not required to audition. The auditions are open to anyone from ages 6 to 18. For more information you may visit www.broadwayboundmusicaltheatre.com or call the LCHS Theatre Department at 229-903-2297.
