.Albany State’s Blash named to preseason All-America team

An  Albany State University Golden Ram has been named to a national preseason football team.   ASU defensive lineman Justin Blash is one of 27 top HBCU football players in the country to be named to the national Boxtorow Preseason HBCU Football All-American team.

Blash, who was named to the 2011 All-SIAC First Team Defense, recorded 43 tackles (24 solo), including 8.5 tackles for losses, six sacks,  and four pass breakups. The 6-5 senior from Alma, Ga. was also named to the All-SIAC Preseason First Team Defense.

“We are proud of Blash and look forward to seeing him compete this season,” said Dr. Richard H. Williams, interim ASU Athletics Director. “He is deserving of this honor.”   Joining Blash on the preseason team from the SIAC are Morehouse College running back David Carter.   This is the sixth year of the Boxtorow Preseason HBCU Football All-America team.  The voters are comprised of some of America’s top writers and media members who cover HBCU football.
