TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama football team continued preparations for the season opener against Michigan with a two-hour practice session in full pads on Monday afternoon at the Thomas-Drew Practice Facility.

The eighth-ranked Wolverines, under second-year head coach Brady Hoke, are coming off an 11-2 record and a Sugar Bowl victory over Virginia Tech last season.

Saturday’s matchup between the Crimson Tide and Michigan will mark the first regular-season meeting between the two storied programs. UM holds a 2-1 edge in the series with the three previous games coming in bowl games.

“I guess everybody gets really excited when it’s game week,” said Alabama head coach Nick Saban. “Obviously, the most important game in preparing yourself for the season is the opening game. Our team has a done a really good job, and had a good attitude about all the things we’ve asked them to do in terms of the work ethic. They’ve had a good attitude of coming back.”

Kickoff for Saturday’s game at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, is slated for 7 p.m. (CDT). The game will be televised nationally by ABC with Brent Musburger and Kirk Herbstreit calling the action and Heather Cox reporting from the sidelines.

The game has also been chosen as ESPN’s College GameDay’s Game of the Week. The popular college football preview show will broadcast live from Cowboys Stadium, getting started at 8 a.m. (CDT) Saturday.
