TUSCALOOSA, Ala. - The Alabama football team held a two-hour practice in full pads on Thursday afternoon at the Drew-Thomas Practice Facility.

Thursday was the Crimson Tide’s 22nd practice of the preseason. The Tide’s season opener is slated for Saturday, Sept. 1, at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington, Texas, against eighth-ranked Michigan at 7 p.m. on ABC.

Thursday Alabama got their first look at preparations for Michigan with more extensive work slated for Friday.

“The first units are starting to come together a little bit better,” Alabama head coach Nick Saban said. “Some of the situational things we are still working on. Tomorrow we will get a little more work in for the first game. Preparation is so important, and I think that is probably the message of the day for everyone. You go through the off-season and spring practice, work hard all summer long then go through two-a-days and you lose sight of really why you do all that. The reason you do all that is to get yourself ready to play games.”

The Senior Bowl also announced its first watch list on Thursday with all nine of Alabama’s scholarship senior on the list. The nine UA players include, Quinton Dial, Nico Johnson, Barrett Jones, Robert Lester, Damion Square, Carson Tinker, Chance Warmack, Jesse Williams and Michael Williams.

Alabama has two more practices this week before game-week prep begins on Monday. The Crimson Tide will travel to Dallas on Friday afternoon, Aug. 31.
