Walter Terry Foreman
Mr. Walter Terry Foreman, 62, of Albany, GA. died on June 28, 2012. Funeral service will be held on Sunday July 15, 2012 at 4 PM at Kimbrell-Stern. Interment will be at Crown Hill Cemetery on Monday. Visitation will be held on Sunday July 15, 2012 at 3 PM at Kimbrell-Stern.

Mr. Foreman was born September 21, 1949 in Albany, GA. to the late Jesse Foreman and Lucile Harbuck. He was a member of Palmyra Road United Methodist Church and the Albany Lion’s Club where he was Past Camp Vice-President and also held the distinguished office as a Past District Governor. One of the things Mr. Foreman was most proud of was the Albany Lion’s Clubs disaster relief.

Mr. Foreman is survived by his wife Delores Fellows Foreman, numerous cousins and his dog “Winnie”.

Tommy Lee Franklin

Tommy Lee Franklin, CLU, 71, of Albany, GA, died Friday, July 13, 2012 at his residence. Memorial services will be held Sunday at 3:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Jay Weldon and Deacon Joy Davis will officiate. Tommy’s remains will be interred at St. Patrick’s Columnbarium.

A native of Sandersville, GA, Tommy was born to the late Tommie Lee Franklin and Ruby Moore Franklin. He graduated from Sandersville High School in 1959, attended Georgia Tech and graduated from Phillip Business College in Augusta, GA.

He moved to Albany, GA in 1967 from Richmond, VA and was employed with American General Life Insurance Company for twenty seven years and was also the former owner of Frankco Bakery. Tommy was a member of St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church where he served on the Vestry and was an usher. He was a member of Grand Island Country Club and was an avid golfer and deep sea fisherman.

Survivors include his wife, Glenda Davis Franklin, two sons, Mark D. Franklin and his wife, Nancy of Albany and W. Keith Franklin of Leesburg, GA, a brother, Carey E. Franklin (Jacque Kristoff) of Milledgeville, GA, a sister and her husband, Louise F. and Ed Veal of Deep Step, GA, two grandchildren, Meagan E. Franklin and Matthew T. Franklin both of Leesburg, GA and his mother-in-law, Doris R. Davis of Swainsboro, GA.

The family will receive friends before the service from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Church.

Russell Baker Browne

Russell Baker Browne, 56, passed away Thursday, July 12, 2012, at home.

Born in Tifton, GA, Russ retired from Glidden Paints and then returned last October as manager. Married for 31 years, he was a loving and devoted husband and father.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Roy and Willie Baker, Nellie Browne, and his parents, Louis and Billie Browne.

Survivors include his wife, Brenda C. Browne; daughters, Laura Browne and Frances Browne; sister, Thea (Charles) Aycock; brothers, Lee Browne, Rick Browne, Lou (Joy) Browne and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors, Saturday, July 14, 2012, from 2 to 4 PM. A graveside service will be held Saturday, 5:30 PM, at Fletcher Cemetery, Hwy 129, in Alapaha, GA.

Joann Rea Mills

Joann Rea Mills, 65, of 1904 Palmyra Rd., Albany, GA died Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at Palmyra Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, July 17, 2012 at Hamilton – Hackleburg Funeral Home, Hamilton, AL at 11:00 a.m. (CST). Rev. Danny Carter will officiate. Interment will follow in Old Line Cemetery, Hodges, AL. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. (CST) until the funeral hour at the funeral home.

Born in Birmingham, AL, Joann had resided in Albany, GA since she was a child except for the time she employed at Roosevelt Warms Springs Institute for Rehabilitation in Warm Springs, GA. She was of the Baptist faith. She was preceded in death by her parents, James Douglas Rea and Leatrice Joy Lawler Ramsey, two brothers, James Rea and Jerry Rae.

Survivors include, a sister and her husband, Joyce Rea Bridges and Jim, Las Vegas, NV, three brothers, Juston Rea, Ricky Rea and David Rea all of Hamilton, AL, three nephews James Bridges, Clint Bridges and Jeff Bridges, numerous aunts ,uncles and cousins. Her special friends were Becky Weaver, Julie Burnell and Gene Corley all of Albany, GA.

The family will receive friends Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Mathews Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m.

Charles Leonard (Butch) Dollar

Charles Leonard (Butch) Dollar, 66, of Albany, GA, died July 9, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Rev. Bill Suggs will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens Cemetery.

Mr. Dollar was a native and lifelong resident of Albany, GA and graduated from Albany High School and attended Marsh College in Atlanta, GA. He served in the Georgia National Guard was a self-employed contractor and was a partner of Dollar Steele Erectors. Mr. Dollar was a member of Southside Baptist Church.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Tiffany and Mark Wilkerson of Morgan, GA and Melisa and Marco Mariti of Belleview, FL, two grandchildren, Ashlyn Wilkerson and Laurel Ann Wilkerson both of Morgan, GA, a sister, Joyce A. Dollar of Albany, GA, five brothers, Bobby Lee Dollar of Pelham, GA, Jimmy Dollar and his wife, Muriel of Gainesville, GA, Robert M. Dollar and his wife, Wanda of Leesburg, GA, C.L. Dollar, Jr. and his wife, Donna of Leesburg, GA and Johnny Dollar and his wife, Linda of Arizona City, AZ. He was preceded in death by a beloved son, Charles Britton Dollar, his parents, C.L. Dollar, Sr. and Collie Dollar, a sister, Betty Jean Kneece and a brother, Ronnie Gene Dollar.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.

Betty Jean McLeroy

Betty Jean McLeroy, 80, of Albany, GA, died Sunday, July 9, 2012 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 11, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. at Mathews Funeral Home. Jonathan Hawkins will officiate.

A native of Sipsey, AL Mrs. McLeroy had resided in Albany, GA since 1952 moving from Jasper, AL. She was a homemaker, a member of ASL Jehovah Witness and former president of SWG Association for the deaf. Mrs. McLeroy was preceded in death by her husband, Hugh Steed McLeroy, Sr., and a daughter, Lora Banks.

Survivors include, a son, Steed McLeroy of Albany, GA, a daughter, Camille McClure of Albany, GA, five grandchildren, Michael Banks, Melissa Marchman, Mark Howell, Shannon Taylor and Amanda Cole, eight great-grandchildren, Brandon Howell, Kenzi Howell, Mark Howell, Taylor Barnes, Aaniyah Cole, Matthew Banks, Jacob Banks and Troy Marchman.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10:00 a.m. until funeral time at Mathews Funeral Home.

Mario Ramos Cancel

Mario Ramos Cancel (US Army, Ret), 89, of Leesburg, GA, died July 8, 2012 at his residence. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 1:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Jose Feliciano Castillo will officiate. Interment will follow in Andersonville National Cemetery at 2:45 PM with Military Honors.

A native of Guanica, Puerto Rico, born to the late Miguel and Aurora Ramos, Mr. Ramos Cancel had resided in Leesburg, GA for the last six years moving from Ocala, FL. He served in the United States Army from 1941 until 1971, during World War II, the Korean War and Vietnam. Mr. Ramos Cancel was also a retired Technical College instructor, a member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church and the American Legion Post # 400. Mr. Ramos loved fishing and was a master baker.

He was married to the late, Nereida Ramos Colon and to this union were born four children, the deceased, Mario Ramos, Jr., William Ramos and his wife, Lilliam of Jacksonville, FL, Alga Marina Vega of the Bronx, NY, her son, Andre Ramos and his wife, Kirstin Hernandez and Jose Miguel Ramos and his wife, Myrta of Bayamon, Puerto Rico and eight grandchildren.

Later, he remarried to Milagros Ramos of Leesburg, GA and joined in this union were two step-daughters, Maribel Montanez and her husband, Felix of Leesburg, GA, Saira Vasquez and her husband, Rene of Sanford, FL and eight grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Mathews Funeral Home.
