Friday night at the Exchange Club of Albany’s Officers and Directors Installation Banquet Jack Roberts was selected as the club’s “Exchangite of The Year”.
Jack has been a member of the club for over 20 years having served as a Director, Treasurer, President-Elect, President and Immediate Past President. On the district level, Roberts was elected to the Division Six Director position followed by Vice-President, President-Elect and as of July 1st District President. Only three other Exchange Club of Albany members have risen to the level of District President before, the late Charlie Foster and Butch Griffin and Jeff Sheffield who now serves as District Treasurer.
A native of Jacksonville, FL, Jack grew up in Dooly County, GA (Lilly community) and is married to his wife of 34 years, the former Veronica “Ronnie” Kozuch. They have two children, Kelly who is married to John Melvin and a son Chase Roberts as well as two grandchildren, Lane Melvin and John Daniel Melvin.
Jack has a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from Albany State University. He joined the Albany Police Department and became one of the original mounted horse patrolmen and also served as “Officer Friendly”. Transferring to the Department of Corrections, Jack has served there for over 28 years as a probation officer, Superintendent of the Albany Diversion Center and is currently the Superintendent of the Albany Transitional Center.
He is a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church where he has taught Sunday School, served as Usher, member of the Choir and the Methodist Men.
