The National Junior College Athletic Association announced Darton State College pitching ace Matt Aldrich as All America, Honorable Mention, recently.

Aldrich threw 107 strikeouts – the second-most strikeouts in the entire NJCAA – during the 2011-2012 season. He recorded a 2.94 ERA and finished the season with eight wins, three losses and two saves.

“After the frustrating start Matt had, I was glad to see him get his career back on track with the unbelievable season he had for us,” Darton State College head baseball coach Scot Hemmings said.

The Cavaliers relied on a talented pitching staff as they enjoyed the program’s first national ranking and set a new school record of 37 wins over the 2011-2012 season.

Aldrich, who came to Darton from Leesburg, has signed with Columbus State University where he plans to continue his studies and athletic endeavors.
