Christopher T. (Chris) Stone, 27

Christopher T. (Chris) Stone, 27, of Leesburg, Ga., died June 6, 2012 at his residence.  Funeral services were held Sunday at Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church.  Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor officiated.  Interment followed in the Leesburg Cemetery.

A native of Albany, Chris graduated from New Covenant Academy in 2004 and was employed with Metro Power, Inc.  He moved to Leesburg, Ga. in 2009 and was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his daughter, Gracie Stone of Leesburg, Ga., his parents, Rick and Patti Stone of Leesburg, his maternal grandmother, Patrice Simpson of Hahira, Ga., two uncles, Michael Pope and his wife, Kristin of Valdosta, Ga. and Rex Stone of Albany, two aunts, Margaret Bruner and her husband, Ralph and Joyce Ward, all of Albany, and numerous cousins.

Dr. Galina Soboleva, 64

Dr. Galina Soboleva, 64, of Albany died June 5, 2012 at The Willson Hospice House. A memorial service was held at Kimbrell-Stern on Friday June 8.

A native of Moscow, Russia, Dr. Soboleva has lived in Albany since 1991. She was formerly employed by Merck and Co. as a project Scientist for many years. Since 2005 she was teaching Chemistry at Darton College. Her commitment and dedication to the College are well known to her colleagues and students.

Galina’s major enjoyment in her life was her work with talented students, communication with friends, reading books and travel abroad.

Survivors include her husband Victor Sobolev and daughter Irina Soboleva.

Mayah Ashlynn Gadt

Mayah Ashlynn Gadt, infant daughter of Greg and Kimberly Gadt, died June 7, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

The memorial service was held Sunday at Kimbrell-Stern with the Rev. Bobby Harrell officiating.  Mayah’s remains were cremated.

Survivors include her parents: Greg and Kimberly Gadt, Leesburg; 3 sisters: Macailah Gadt, Madison Gadt, and McKenna Gadt, all of Leesburg; paternal grandparents: Robert and Deborah Gadt, Cleveland, Ohio; maternal grandparents: Howard and Patricia Jones, Cleveland, Ohio; maternal great grandmother: Lucy Hampton, Cleveland, Ohio; aunt: LeAnne Nowak and her husband Jeremy, Cleveland, Ohio; uncle: Howard Jones and his wife Sarah, Seattle, Wash..

Raymond Paul (Ray) O’Connor Jr. 78

Raymond Paul (Ray) O’Connor Jr., 78, of Albany died June 11, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Gillionville Baptist Church. Rev. Tony Haefs will officiate. A private interment will follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Tiffin, Ohio, Mr. O’Connor graduated from Tiffin High School and Tiffin University. He served in the United States Army in Korea and moved to Albany from Newark, Ohio  in 1973. Mr. O’Connor was the purchasing manager for MacGregor Golf Company until he retired in 1991. He was also employed with Thomas and Betts Lighting in Bainbridge, Ga. and Thrush Aircraft of Albany.

Mr. O’Connor attended Gillionville Baptist Church and the Micha Sunday School Class. He was past president of the Purchasing Agents Association and was an avid golfer at Radium Springs Country Club.

Survivors include his wife, Doris O’Connor of Albany, his two sons, Mark O’Connor and his wife, Heather and Ricky Godwin and his wife, Marlene all of Leesburg, GA; his four daughters, Terri Peck and her husband, Wayne of Cuthbert, Ga., Karen Floyd and her husband, Jimmie and Tina Lewis all of Leesburg, Ga. and Terri Macolly and her husband, Phil of Albany, a sister, Jean Sponseller of Ashville, N.C., his grandchildren, Raeanne O’Connor and Elizabeth O’Connor both of Leesburg, Ga., Melissa Dills and her husband, Wayne and Jessica Conner and her husband, Jeffery all of Arlington, Ga., Dayne Godwin and Ann Marie Macolly all of Albany, four great-grandchildren and his pet, Nick.
