Delano H. “Del” Larson M/Sgt. USAF (Ret’d) 79, of Leesburg died Saturday, March 31, 2012 at the Willson Hospice House following a lengthy illness.
The Funeral service will be at 11am on Tuesday, April 3, 2012 at Sherwood Baptist Church Chapel. The Reverend Tom Pollock and Mr. Ross Powell will officiate. Interment will follow in Floral Memory Gardens with military honors.
The Family will receive friends from 6pm to 8pm on Monday, April 2, 2012 at Kimbrell-Stern.
A native of Minneapolis, Minn., Mr. Larson has lived in Dougherty and Lee Counties for the past 42 years. He served in the United States Air Force during Korea and Vietnam as a jet engine mechanic. He also retired from the US Postal Service with 20 yrs. service. Del was an avid outdoorsman. He loved fishing, deer hunting and traveling. He also built and flew model airplanes and was a member of the Airmasters Model Airplane Club.
He was a wonderful Husband, Father and Poppa. He always put his family before himself. He will be missed dearly.
He is survived by his wife of 55 yrs., Kathleen Wiggins Larson, his daughter Carol Larson Stapleton and her husband Brian of Langhorne, Pa., his son Alan Dale Larson of Leesburg, 2 grandchildren, Cassandra Drakeley and her husband Paul of Chalfont, Pa. and Kyle Stapleton of Langhorne, Pa., and 4 great grandchildren Caroline, Lauren, Jack and James Drakeley.
