Charles David Goff, 48

Charles David Goff, 48, of Sylvester, GA, died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at the Willson Hospice House following an illness.

His memorial service will be Sunday, March 11 at 2 p.m. at Pine Bluff Baptist Church.  The Rev. Keith Smith and the Rev. Terrell Roberts will officiate.  The family will receive friends at Kimbrell-Stern on Saturday from 4-6 PM.

Mr. Goff was born in Atlanta, and was a 1981 graduate of Albany High School.  He attended ABAC and Albany Technical College.  Mr. Goff was a member of Pine Bluff Baptist Church.  He worked for Queen Carpet in Tifton, Ga., and then with Cooper Tire.  He was an enthusiastic University of Georgia Bulldog fan as well an avid NASCAR fan, driving in the Richard Petty Experience at the Atlanta Motor Speedway.  Mr. Goff was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with them and his friends.  David Goff fought a 5 year battle with Glioblastoma multiform stage 4 brain cancer.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Morris Levy Goff Sr. and Rebecca Capps Goff; his sister, June Goff; his brother, Morris L. Goff Jr.

Mr. Goff is survived by his wife:  Diane Hester Goff, Sylvester; a step daughter:  Kristi White, Tifton; 2 step sons:  Michael Scarbor and Lonnie Scarbor, both of Omega; 3 step grandchildren:  Shane White, Tifton, Shae Scarbor, Omega, Dustin Scarbor, Tifton; 2 sisters:  Sylvia Dixon and Joyce Holton, both of Tifton; a brother:  Johnny Goff, Tifton; a sister-in-law:  Maxie Payne Goff, Albany; a special sister:  Marti Yelverton and her husband Mike, Albany; a special brother:  Walter Goff, Ocilla; several nieces and nephews.

Albert Edgar Brown, 81

Albert Edgar Brown, 81, of Lee County died Monday, March 5, 2012 in Palatka, Fla. Funeral services were held Friday, March 9 at Kimbrell-Stern. Interment followed at Laurel Hill Cemetery in Thomasville, Ga. Rev. Billy Hanna officiated.

“Mr. Al” was a native of Thomasville, Ga. He served in the US Army for six years during the Korean War, while stationed in England. He had resided in Albany since 1969. Mr. Al’s love of giving, helping others and his generous kindness will be missed by all who knew him since the loss of his passing. Us girls love you daddy.

He was preceded in death by his wife Marjorie Brown.

Survivors include the mother of his children, Doris Brown Owens of Palatka, Fla., three daughters, Barbara Humphries of Rome, Ga., Robyn Kelly of Keystone Heights, Fla. and Celia B. Baker and her husband, Terry of Palatka, Fla., one grandson, Wade Hamon, four granddaughters, Jessica Humphries, Kirby Baker, Tyler Baker and Peyton Baker, two great grandchildren, Jadeyn Smith and Hailey Smith, one sister, Doris Busbee of Albany, and two brothers, David Brown and Louis Brown, both of Thomasville, Ga..

Bowden Hires, Jr. 73

Bowden Hires Jr. 73, of Leesburg, GA died Thursday, March 8, 2012 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Home, in Americus, Ga.  Graveside funeral services will be conducted Sunday at 2 p.m.at Leesburg Cemetery.  Rev. Bobby Moye will officiate.

A native of Butler, Ga., Mr. Hires had resided in Leesburg since 1970 moving from Reynolds, Ga.  He was a graduate of Butler High School and graduated from the University of Georgia, School of Pharmacy in 1969.  He owned and operated Leesburg Pharmacy until 1994 and was later employed as a relief pharmacist by Winn-Dixie, CVS and Rite Aid Pharmacies.

Survivors include his wife, Delia R. Hires of Leesburg, Ga., a daughter, Kristi Harris and her husband, Ryan of Kansas City, Mo., a step-daughter, Addine Harrell and her husband, Dennis of Warwick, Ga., a sister, Glenda Seely of Clearwater, Fla., three grandchildren, Emily Harris of Kansas City, Mo., Chris Harrell and his wife, Traci of Woodstock, Ga., Stephen Harrell and his wife, Shea of Leesburg, Ga. and two great-grandchildren, William James Harrell and Addison MacKinley Harrell.

The family will receive friends Saturday from 6 p.m. until 7:30 p.m. at Mathews Funeral Home.
