Special to the Journal
The Southern Legacy All Star cheer squad traveled to Savannah Saturday to compete in their third cheer competition this year. The Diamond Cheer and Dance competition was held at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center with over forty cheer, dance and stunt teams traveling from around the region to compete in the one day event.
The team, under the direction of Coach Lisa Jones, is pleased with the progress they have made this year. “The team and I spent the last month preparing for this competition. I knew that we were going to take the floor with confidence and sass! The girls and I have really come together and created a team-like atmosphere and I know that the judges could see that. I love these girls and our hard work paid off!”
Cheerleader Caleigh Potocki performed an individual routine early in the day and edged out her competitors with solid execution, taking home the first place trophy in her division. The Southern Legacy team competed against eight others in their division placing second in the large field.
The team is currently preparing for their next competition in Jacksonville at the end of March. Good luck to the Southern Legacy team!
