Ruth B. McKinny, 87

Ruth B. McKinny, 87, formerly of Albany, entered into rest on Tuesday, February 14, 2012 in Deatsville, Ala.

Her funeral service was held Saturday, February 18 at Crown Hill Cemetery Mausoleum Chapel with interment to follow in Crown Hill Cemetery.  The Rev. Joe Pridgen officiated.

Mrs. McKinney was born in Loganville, Ga., and had lived in Albany since 1975.

She is survived by several nieces and nephews and great nieces and great nephews of the Cooper and Lanier families.

Marvin Scott Tison, 63

Marvin Scott Tison, 63, of Albany, died Monday, February 20, 2012 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 2 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern. Rev. Gail Cameron officiating.

A native of Albany, Ga., Mr. Tison was an instructor at Turner Jobs Corps. He was married to his loving wife, Elmira for twenty six years, where she was a member of Morningside Methodist Church. Marvin was a member of VFW and was preceded in death by his parents, Furlow and Edna Tison.

Survivors include his wife, Elmira Tison, a son, Danny Robert Horne, a step daughter, Tammy Haglewood and her husband, Eric, a step son Wesley Horne and his wife, Gwen, all of Lee County, two sisters, Marveen Price and her husband, Ray of Doerun, Ga. and Harriett O’neal and her husband, Esco of Warwick, Ga., seven grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two nieces and two nephews.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, February 22, 2012 at Kimbrell-Stern from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m.

Maxine Dykes, 83

Maxine Dykes, 83, of Albany died Wednesday Feb 22, 2012 at Phoebe North Hospital.

Funeral service will be held Friday 11 a.m. at Kimbrell-Stern with interment to follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.  Rev. Bobby Marshall will be officiating.

Born in Altha, Fla., Mrs. Dykes lived in Albany since the 1950’s where she retired from Dr. Goldsmith’s office.  She was preceded in death by her husband Ray Dykes.

Survivors include her daughter Lynn Coburn and her husband Ronald of Albany; a son Joey Dykes and his wife Kim of Albany; a brother Grady Williams and his wife Armenia of Lithonia, Ga.; grandchildren Josh Coburn, Ray Dykes III, Amie Dykes, Renee Perkins, Stephanie Mainor, Hannah Smith and Jesse Smith.  Great-grandchildren Whytnee Coburn, Ray Dykes IV, Hunter Dykes and Marissa Dykes.

The family will receive friends Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern.

Hazel Smith Tinsley, 87

Hazel Smith Tinsley, 87, of Albany died Wednesday, Feb 22, 2012 at Palmyra Nursing Home

A graveside funeral service will be held 2p.m. at Riverside Cemetery.  Rev. Russell Anglin will be officiating.

Born in Tallahassee, Fla., Mrs. Tinsley lived in Leesburg where she delivered flowers for 91/2 years for Albany Floral Delivery and was a member of Raleigh White Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her children Shirley Tinsley Brantley, Daniel Byron Tinsley and Billy Eli Tinsley.

Survivors include her husband William Ralph Tinsley of Albany; a son Ralph Troy Tinsley of Oklahoma; seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Laura Ellen Jackson, 73

Laura Ellen Jackson, 73, of Leesburg, Ga. died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at her residence. Graveside services will be conducted Saturday, February 25, 2012 at 2:00 p.m. at Greenwood Cemetery, Atlanta.

A native of Atlanta, Laura had resided in Leesburg, Ga. for the past seven years moving from McDonough, GA. She was a homemaker and attended First Baptist Church of Leesburg. Laura was preceded in death by her parents, Huxley Monard Jackson Sr. and Laura Louise Rudin Jackson.

Survivors include three sisters, Mona Claxton of Leesburg, Ga., Judy Jackson and Mary Green both of McDonough, Ga., a brother, Huxley M. Jackson Jr. of McDonough, Ga. and a number of nieces and nephews.
