 Constance Boring Giles

Constance Boring Giles, died Thursday, December 22, 2011 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral service was held Saturday at Kimbrell-Stern Funeral Directors with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.  Rev. Leigh Ann Raynor officiated.

A native of Moultrie, Mrs. Giles was a residence of Albany since 1950.  She was a member of Porterfield Memorial United Methodist Church, the XYZ Club, Albany Woman’s Club, and the Daughters of the American Revolution.  Mrs. Giles was the Director of the Sherwood Baptist Church Kindergarten for 15 years.

She was preceded in death by her husband J. Gordon Giles; grandson, Spencer Giles; granddaughter Laura Giles.

Survivors include her two sons; David Giles and wife Tomilyn, Phillip Giles and wife Belinda; grandchildren, John Giles and wife Katie, Lindsey Giles, Elaine Mabrey and husband Rod, Jesse Williams, Matt Giles and a great grandson William Deyette.

Sarah Grace Janelle, 79

Sarah Grace Janelle, 79 of Albany, died Friday, December 23, 2011 at Phoebe Putney Hospital. The rosary was held Tuesday, December 27, 2011 at Kimbrell-Stern with a visitation to follow. Funeral services were held Wednesday, December 28 at St. Teresa’s Catholic Church, burial followed at Riverside Cemetery.

Mrs. Janelle was born and raised in Albany. She was a homemaker and worked for Belk’s Department Store for ten years. Sarah was a devoted wife, mother, sister, grandmother, great grandmother and friend to everyone she met. Her family was the center of her world.  She was a beloved member of St. Teresa’s Catholic Church.  She was preceded in death by her husband, Ray Janelle Sr.

Survivors include three daughters, Valerie Newell and her husband Melvin of Albany, Denise Cravey and her husband Ben of Hawkinsville, Ga, and Rena Ward and her husband Chris of Albany, a son Buster Janelle and his wife Lisa of Tifton, Ga., one sister, Lois Harris of Putney, Ga., 10 grandchildren, Trey Newell, Brian Newell, Drew Cravey, Catherine Cravey, John Cravey, Lauren Janelle, Kristi Janelle, Al Janelle, Sarah Grace Ward and Josh Ward, 5 great grandchildren, Asher Newell, Sydney Newell, Kylie Grace Newell, Scott Newell and Abby Newell.

Ann Elizabeth Christian Faulk “Betty Ann”, 83

Ann Elizabeth Christian Faulk “Betty Ann”, 83, of Albany, died Sunday, December 25, 2011 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital.

Her funeral service was held Wednesday, December 28 at Riverside Cemetery.  The Rev. Dr. Don Adams officiated.

Ann Elizabeth Christian Faulk was born in Memphis, Tenn. and she had lived in Albany since 1956.  Her parents were Howard Jewell Wilson and Elizabeth Patterson Wilson.  She graduated from NAPS of Atlanta in 1946, and was a 1950 graduate of the University of Georgia.  While at UGA, she was a member of Chi Omega Sorority and the Z Club.  She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Albany.  She was employed with C & S bank for 12 years and retired from the Dougherty County Department of Family and Children’s Service with 18 years of service.  She was a member of the Garden Club of Albany and volunteered with Meals on Wheels.  In 1950 she married Robert Gibson Christian Jr., who preceded her in death in 1993.

She is survived by her husband:  Frank Foy Faulk Jr., Albany; 3 sons:  Robert Gibson Christian III (Julia), Savannah, Howard Wilson Christian, New York City, James Anthony Christian (Patti), Cape Coral, Fla.; 2 daughters:  Mary Elizabeth Williamson, Seattle, Wash., Virginia Ann Flick (Randy), Albany; 8 grandchildren:  Beth Laird, Robbie Williamson, Robert Christian IV, James Christian, Henry Christian, Emily Christian, Christian Flick, Scott Flick; 2 great grandchildren:  Lindsay Laird, Anna Laird.

Gary Ward Bailey, 59

Gary Ward Bailey, 59, of Leesburg, Ga. died Thursday December 29, 2011 at Willson Hospice House. Funeral services were held Monday January 2 at Mathews Funeral Home. Pastor Tim Olds officiated.

A native of Charleston, S.C., Mr. Bailey moved to Leesburg, Ga. where he had resided for the past sixteen years. He was employed with the Marine Corps Logistics Base as a Heavy Mobile Equipment Repair Inspector for the Maintenance Center. He was a member of Etiwan Masonic Lodge # 95 F & AM, in Charleston, S.C. and was of the Baptist faith. He was preceded in death by his father, Bennie Lee Bailey.

Survivors include his wife, Belinda Ward Bailey, a son, Nathan Ward Bailey and a daughter April Lee Bailey all of Leesburg, Ga., his mother, Myrtle Jenkins Bailey, Forsyth, Ga., two brothers, Bennie Lee Bailey Jr., Lexington, S.C., Mark Jenkins Bailey, Forsyth, Ga. and a number of nieces and nephews.

Louise Hester Mullis, 86

Louise Hester Mullis, 86, of Albany, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at the Willson Hospice House.  The funeral will be held Wednesday, January 4 at 3 p.m. at Kimbrell-Stern with Rev. Carl Dunn officiating. Entombment will follow at Crown Hill Mausoleum.

Mrs. Mullis was born in Cherokee County, Georgia to the late Will and Eugenia Hester. She was a homemaker who loved fishing, local racing, baking cakes and her family.

Survivors include her husband, Don, four daughters, Patricia Beckwith of Sumner, Ga., Marie Stamps and her husband, Cecil, of Albany, Diane Glidewell of Snellville, Ga. and Brenda Minton of  Lebanon, Mo., eleven grandchildren, Dewey Stamps, Regina Mercer, Jamie Beckwith, Melissa Smith, Loretta Frakes, Wanda Sparks, Crystal Reifert, Steven Glidewell, Bobby Ray Purvis, April Minton and DJ Minton, twenty great grandchildren, six great great grandchildren, a number of nephews, including a special nephew, Jerry Johnson.

Scarlett Elese Tucker Childers

Scarlett Elese Tucker Childers, died Sunday, January 1, 2012 at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta.

Her funeral service will Wednesday at 2 p.m. at Sherwood Baptist Church with interment in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Albany, Mrs. Childers worked with the Dougherty County School System in Management Information Systems.  She was attending Sherwood Baptist Church and loved spending time with her granddaughters.

Survivors include her husband Robert Avery Childers, Lee County; her daughter, Regan Childers Flower, Lee County; granddaughters, Avery Elese Fowler, Cecilia Macy Fowler; her parents, Bruce and Liz Tucker; brother Phil Tucker and wife Troi, New Hope, Va.; aunts, Carolyn Cox and husband Lee, Albany, Thelma Griffin, Albany, Katie Smith, Albany, uncles, Howard Tucker and wife LaLa, Moultrie, Cliff tucker and wife JoAnn, Albany, Steve Tucker and wife Susan, Lee County and a sister in law Debbie Bozeman and husband Ronnie, Sylvester.
