Cheddar cheese ball: Perfect for the holidays!

‘Tis the season for decorations, shopping and cooking for the Holidays. So be prepared and do some baking – sweets, cheese straws, chex mix – to store in tins or airtight containers. Keep some cream cheese on hand and make a cheese ball or have some favorite cheese on hand with assorted crackers; stock up on coffees, teas and mixers for drinks.

You will be ready for expected or unexpected friends and family that may stop by. You can also bag up goodies for teacher gifts, neighbors, mailman, etc. Spread a little joy. Nothing makes the Holiday warmer than something homemade shared with a friend. Cream cheese is a magical thing topped with pepper jelly or crabmeat and cocktail sauce or horseradish and whole blueberry preserves; any of these are surprisingly delicious served with crackers.

Being prepared to celebrate with family and friends will bring you much joy and fill your heart with the Christmas spirit. I am looking forward to sharing weekly helpful hints and recipes with you. Hope you will try this week’s recipe.

8 ounces grated sharp cheddar cheese, room temperature

8 ounces cream cheese, softened to room temperature

One-half teaspoon granulated garlic

One-quarter teaspoon cayenne red pepper

3 teaspoons Worcestershire Sauce

Chopped pecans

Mix all ingredients together with your hands. Shape into a ball or log. Roll in chopped pecans. Refrigerate. Keeps well for 2 weeks or freeze. Serve with favorite crackers.

This is also a great gift. One year I found inexpensive Christmas spreaders and plates. I put the cheese ball on the plate and wrapped it up with clear wrap. I then wrapped it with the spreader in cellophane, tied it up with festive ribbon, and gave them to neighbors and friends.

Hope you enjoy! Get started and be prepared to celebrate this wonderful time of year!

May God Bless You!
