In the last week before she was slated to depart for a new home in Ohio, Lee County resident Kathleen Moylan (far left) was recognized by Kiwanis Club of Dougherty County for the active role she has played in local and state Kiwanis activities. Moylan was presented Kiwanis International’s highest honor, the Hixson Award, by the club at its December 12 meeting during a farewell slide show depicting the many projects in which she participated during her five years in the club, including Honor Flight (for WWII veterans), the BUG school program, the annual pancake breakfast and city Easter egg hunt, among others. Moylan also served as growth chair for the Kiwanis District of Georgia, requiring travel all over the state. In addition to the slide show and gifts commemorating various aspects of her Kiwanis activities, a song in Moylan’s honor was performed by Linda Dale, a stirring rendition of Carrie Underwood’s “Whenever You Remember.” A visibly emotional Moylan expressed appreciation for the tribute and the memorable years and people in her experience with the Dougherty Kiwanis club.
