Edna L. Williams, 84

Edna L. Williams, 84, of Albany died November 3 at Palmyra Nursing Home. Graveside funeral services were held Saturday at Crown Hill Cemetery. Rev. Billy Hanna officiated.

A native of Wingate, Texas, Mrs. Williams spent most of her life in Texas and moved to Albany, fourteen years ago. She was a homemaker and the widow of James Curtis Williams.

Survivors include two sons, James Williams and his wife, Philina, of Albany, and Bud Williams of Sioux Falls, S.D. and three grandchildren, Matthew Williams of Carrollton, Ga., Nathan Williams of Valdosta, Ga. and Christopher Williams of St. Louis Mo.

Betty White Brandenburg, 79

Betty White Brandenburg, 79, of Leesburg, died Tuesday, November 2 at her residence. The funeral service was held Friday, November 4 at First Baptist of Leesburg. Rev. Bobby Harrell officiated, interment followed at Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of LaGrange, Ga., Mrs. Brandenburg had lived in Albany since 1974 She spent thirty years working for GMAC and twelve years as a secretary for Rev. Bobby Harrell at First Baptist of Leesburg, where Betty had been a member of since 1977. She was preceded in death by a sister, Carolyn Flournoy and her parents, James and Willie Mae White.

Survivors include her husband of sixty years, Maurice Brandenburg of Leesburg, a son Edward M. Brandenburg Jr., and his wife, Judy, of Southill, Va., a daughter, Deborah Holladay and her husband, Mark, of Midland, Ga., two sisters, Helen Coulson of Atlanta and Dot Richardson and her husband, Bobby, of Lumpkin, Ga., three grandchildren, Rachel Gowder and her husband, Daniel, Sara Harris and her busband, John and David Brandenburg, four great grandchildren, Naomi Gowder, Luke Gowder, Lyla Harris and Maribelle Harris.

Mary Lyda Little, 88

Mary Lyda Little, 88 of Leesburg, Ga. died Tuesday, November 1 at her daughter’s residence. Funeral services were conducted Saturday at The Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, Leesburg Congregation. Steve Dyes Sr. officiated. Committal services will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Talladega, Ala., Mrs. Little moved to Albany in 1957 and had resided in Lee Co, Ga. for the past twenty nine years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend to all those who knew her. Her greatest joy was in being an accomplished homemaker and participating in the door to door ministry of Jehovah’s Witnesses. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar M.J. Little Sr., a son, Billy Wayne Little, and a grandson, Alan Scott Little.

Survivors include two sons, Daniel Little and his wife, Sandra of Tallahassee, Fla., Oscar M.J. Little Jr. and his wife, Carol of Baconton, Ga., three daughters, Betty Peavey and her husband, Bob of Leesburg, Ga., Janet Boucher and her husband, Bill of Baconton, Ga. and Rebecca Wray and her husband, Ronnie of Leesburg, Ga., a sister, Paulene Edgell of Orange County, Cali., eleven grandchildren, Danny, Heath, Kathleen, Rob, Dusty, Donald, Bryan, Michelle, Billy, Heather and Amy. She is also survived by eighteen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren.

Shirle Ann Clements Jordan, 76

Shirle Ann Clements Jordan, 76, of Leary, Ga., died Novmeber 3 at her daughter’s residence in Alpharetta, Ga. Graveside funeral services were held Monday at the Leary City Cemetery. Rev. Heath Kahlbau officiated.

A native of Morgan, Ga., Mrs. Jordan moved to Leary, Ga. in 1958 from Athens, Ga. She was a homemaker and former teacher at Leary Elementary School. Mrs. Jordan was a graduate of Morgan High School, LaGrange College and attended the University of Georgia.

She was a member of Leary Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School for many years sang in the choir and attended the Adult Sunday School Class. She was preceded in death in 2010 by her husband, Ralph Marvin Jordan Jr.

Survivors include two daughters and their husbands, Lisa J. and Dan Woolf of Alpharetta, Ga. and Lori and Ray Griffin of Leary, Ga., a brother, Andy Clements and his wife, Donna of Clayton, Ga., six grandchildren, Lauren Grigg, Richard Woolf, Brittany Woolf, Jordan Griffin, Owen Griffin and Boden Griffin and two great-grandchildren, Sean Grigg and Joshua Grigg.

Thad Hugh Knight, Sr.

Thad Hugh Knight, Sr., 81, of Lee County, Ga., died November 5 at his residence. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Thundering Springs Baptist Church. Rev. Jerry Deans and Rev. Chuck Smith officiated. Interment followed in Thundering Springs Baptist Church Cemetery with Masonic Rites and the Lee County Sheriff’s Department will conduct honors.

Mr. Knight was a native and lifelong resident of Lee County, Ga. He was employed with Albany Water, Gas and Light for thirty one years. He was currently a Major with the Lee County Sheriff’s office and served with the Sheriff’s office for thirty six years with three different administrations. Mr. Knight was a member of Thundering Springs Baptist Church, the Men’s Sunday School Class and Dougherty Lodge # 591 F&M. He was preceded in death by his son, Bo Knight, a daughter, Kitty Shearer and his wife, Bessie Smith Knight.

Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Fran and George Walls of Lee County, Ga., Jan and Roger Zimmerman of Richland, Ga. and Betty Lou and Richard Bachman of Lee County, Ga., two brothers, Tom Knight and his wife, Becky and Will Otis Knight and a special niece, Nadine Askew all of Lee County, Ga., a brother-in-law and his wife, Danny and Charlie Mae Smith and two sisters-in-law, Paula Smith and Peggy Joyce Mercer and her husband, Mack all of Albany, ten grandchildren, Brandie Hurst (Dee), George Walls Jr. (LeAnna), Bo McCrary (Julie), Jimmy McCrary, Chris McCrary (Sara), Randy Bachman, Thad Bachman (Stephanie), Pamela Bachman, Timothy Knight, Tyler Knight and nineteen great-grandchildren, Haley Tomlinson, Heather Tomlinson, Hollie Tomlinson, Allie Waldron, Kyra Waldron, Jacob Waldron, Cierra McCrary, Ben McCrary, Trinity McCrary, Brian McCrary, Hannah McCrary, Chasity McCrary, Chris McCrary, Hunter McCrary, Kayla Bachman, Jennifer Bachman and Delilah Bachman, Seth Walls and Kate Walls all of Lee County, Ga.

Joe Wayne Harrell, 78

Joe Wayne Harrell, 78, of Albany, died Sunday November 5 at Lee County Health Care. Funeral services were held Tuesday, November 8 at Kimbrell Stern. Rev Jeff Ezell officiated. Interment was in Crown Hill Cemetery.

A native of Grady County, Ga., Mr. Harrell had lived in Albany since 1956. He joined the US Marine Corps and served in the Korean War. He retired from Merck Chemical Company after thirty two and a half years. Joe loved fishing, baseball, the outdoors and riding his Harley Davison motorcycle and was of the Baptist faith.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of fifty five years, a daughter, Janet Harrell, two sons, Joey Harrell and Billy Harrell, a sister, Deborah Prince, four grandchildren, Riley Harrell, Randy Harrell, Mandi Harrell and Angie Davis, four great grandchildren, McKenzie Davis, Kyler Davis, Caleb Hall and Dylan Hall.
