The Darton College men’s and women’s cross country teams finished 19th and 26th, respectively, at the NJCAA Championships at the Ocotillo Golf Club in Hobbs, N.M., Saturday.
Heath Lamb, of Moultrie, led the men’s team, finishing 68th (out of 288) overall in the men’s 8,000-meter run with a time of 28:26.
Jeronda Stringfield, of Pensacola, Fla., led the Lady Cavaliers, finishing the women’s 5,000-meter run in 22:19 to finish 127th out of 268.
“They competed well,” Head Coach Bruce Skiles said. “It was tough out there.”
Skiles said the wind blew a steady 30-35 mph with 45 mph gusts during the races.
“There were no breaks, just steady winds,” he said. “So you can’t really look at times; I’m just looking at how they placed. As a whole I think they did fine.”
