9/30/11 (Dunwoody) – The best women’s team in Region XVII is… undetermined.
Darton College tied Georgia Perimeter College 1-1 in an away game Friday. Going into the game, both teams were 6-0 in Region play, and neither of the powerhouse squads had given up a goal in a Region match.
Perimeter was ranked the No. 2 team in the NJCAA coach’s poll.
“We were the better team, without a doubt,” head Darton coach Ken Veilands said. He added that his women put 18 shots on goal, compared to Perimeter’s nine.
Haisha Cantave, a freshman from Ottawa, Ontario, put up Darton’s lone goal from a corner kick in the first half of the match.
Darton College will meet Georgia Perimeter again on Oct. 14, at 5 p.m., at home. The Lady Cavs are scheduled to play Andrew College in Cuthbert tomorrow.
