Having spent most of his high school years here, Decatur, Georgia author Doug Dahlgren still refers to Albany as “home.”
He will be coming to Albany on October 15th to discuss and sign copies of his “The Son Series” books.
Dahlgren writes novels that make you think, while keeping you on the edge of your seat! His second book, The SON, Silas Rising is a political thriller that grabs you in at the beginning and keeps you focused to the end.
For those who loved Jack Bauer, of TV’s “24” fame, Dahlgrens secretive hero will catch your interest. ”Silas” is the dark hero of The Son. Hero or Avenger? As a concerned citizen, ”Silas” is like no one you have ever met. Some readers call him a cross between Dexter and James Bond and the book as intriguing as any in the Bourne series.
Silas’ secretive nature is maintained through nearly half of the novel, when the character’s real name is finally exposed.
One reviewer on Amazon.com stated, Dahlgren is up there with John Grisham and James Patterson for page-turning excitement and anticipation!”
Elliott Brack, of the GwinnettForum.com, added his own review of The SON in his column dated April 12, 2011: Let’s put it this way: I finished the book at 12:08 a.m., well past my normal bedtime, and in three days, simply because the book is so compelling. Though self-published by a Decatur resident, it’s as good a read as those by major thriller authors. The book is hard to put down.
The plot of “The Son Silas Rising” is intricate and page turning…
Four members of Congress are dead, all within a few months. Each death appears to have been an accident or natural causes. Then the mysterious messages begin to show up, messages in the form of quotations from long dead Revolutionary War heroes. Why would this assassin risk exposure and go against his own rules of secrecy? A reporter, who had been alone in his strong suspicions, now sets out to track this serial killer down. More complications come from the new people this killer reluctantly allows into his life. They need help, but not the normal help you or I might offer a friend. They need the services only he is willing to do. The Son is an exciting, fictional ride that has the feel of current events. The first of a three part series, of which the second book, The Only Constant, is now available.
Dahlgren is a retired businessman living with his wife of over 44 years in Decatur, Georgia. They enjoy being near their two beautiful granddaughters and other family members.
Working full time for a major national company for 32 years, while operating his own successful contracting business, was a hectic schedule.
Retirement from the business world has brought him to this new career.
Dahlgren’s writing style is taken from what he calls “solid, dependable character study.” Based on the personalities of people he has met through his over 35 years in business, his characters are some you may recognize as folks you know. You may even see yourself.
Doug Dahlgren will be signing copies of “The Son Silas Rising” and its sequel, “The Only Constant” at Merry Acres Motel, in the lobby, on Saturday afternoon, October 15th from 1 till 4 p.m. Merry Acres is located at 1500 Dawson Road.
