The Albany State University Lady Rams will look to defend their SIAC Cross Country championship title during the upcoming championship meet. Slated for Friday, Oct. 21, the meet will be hosted by Tuskegee University and held at the Macon County Road and Bridge Department in Tuskegee, Ala.
The Lady Rams are led by senior Brittany Carter, who finished second individually in the 2010 championship meet, will be chased in the 5K run by Clark Atlanta University, who finished second last season, and Kentucky State University, who won the SIAC West Division regular season title.
The ASU men’s cross country team will run for the championship title in the 8K race against Benedict College, who are ranked 10th in the South Region in the latest USTFCCCA Division II Cross Country Regional Rankings. Benedict enters the meet as the team to beat in the men’s field. The Golden Rams will also face tough competition in two-time defending champion Morehouse College and Stillman College, winners of the SIAC West Division men’s regular season title.
