An Albany State University Lady Ram was named the SIAC’s Female Runner of the Week for the East Division. Brittany Carter received
the SIAC honor this week after her performance in the Morehouse College Invitational, held Saturday, Sept. 24, in Atlanta. A senior, Carter led the Lady Rams to a first-place finish after running the 5K meet with a time of 20:49.14.
Two other Lady Rams, freshmen Olivia Traylor and Kanetria Kitchens, received the SIAC’s Top Seven Weekly Cross Country Performers honors.
Traylor had the fourth best time of the week of the East Division women’s teams. She finished with a time of 22:39.60, while Kitchens finished seventh in the meet with a time of 23:09.98.
Chavis Taylor of Benedict College was named the SIAC’s Male Runner of the Week for the East Division. Jasmin Solomon of the Tuskegee University women’s team and Vermond Walker, of the TU men’s team, earned SIAC Runners of the Week in the West Division.
Taylor, a sophomore, recorded a personal best time of 27:57.00, landing his first top ten finish in a collegiate competition at the Wingate Invitational 8K run. Solomon led West Division female runners with her time of 25:56.44 in the 5K during a dual contest at the Morehouse Invitational. Walker topped all West Division male runners with a time of 29:41.41.
